Call for linguists (2)

I feel like I need to really keep myself in check if I want to prevent reiterating the same lines over and over again, so here I go. No guarantees though, ok? Now……

Did you do some research?

I sure do hope you did, because it has been quite a while since my last article.

In the last article, I mentioned that there was dearth of Japanese language experts, remember?

I meant what I said, and I have learnt about it in a very practical way. I receive job offers all the time. Sometimes, the same offer was coming back to me on three, even four different occasions.

Do you understand what that means?

The recruiters were not able to get hold of good candidates who can handle the work of a Japanese language specialist (could be in different descriptions), and this demand isn’t dwindling down anytime soon. So, it is a really good time to call for linguists.

Now, you could pose a question.

Why should I care?

Well for starters, you are reading this article because you have a certain amount of interest in the Japanese language, right? You could be casually studying it, or you could be seriously considering making it into an attribute that enhances your career choices. Don’t say that I am wrong. You won’t be here otherwise. So, that question is out of the way. Have confidence in yourself that you do care.

That is the first thing you need to do, which is to be sure that you want to study the Japanese language and make it count. I will be straight forward with you here. If you are not willing to give it your best shot, then you are just making it hard on yourself.

The first step is to get to know about what this industry has to offer (I might even cover this section sometime later). Know your options.

Then, decide upon what you want to do specifically. You can append your language skills to your profile and accentuate it, or you could decide to make a career out of the language itself. Either way, you can make those long hours of studies count.

Then, you connect the dots. Believe me, you will have dots to connect. This industry is huge. It won’t let you complain about the unavailability of dots.

So, first things first. Get a clear goal for yourself. Then we proceed. Simple, right?

This article will continue over in the 6th September post.
